The diagram above was created in the mid 1990s and is called the Metabase System Framework. It was derived from the Zachman Architecture Framework.
Virtually all sucessful enterprises are based on formally defined architetures. These architectures are neither small nor simple.
Rather they are broad in specification with a number of layers of artificts that are formally defined, interrelated and ultimately result in SQL database schemas.
An physical SQL implementation the Zach,an framework as the Metabase System schema was created over a period of about 25 years. It contains more than 500 database tables.
While essentialy similar in scope and intent with the Zachman Architecture Framework, Whitemarsh's implementation is broader, more sophiscated, and hosts the Whitemarsh Metabase System. Enterprise implementations of the Metabase System can be concurrently accessed through Client-Server or through the Internet.
The Metabase System's database resides at a level above the traditional Enterprise operational systems such as Finance, HR, and/or Manufacturing. Because it is action-oriented, the Metabase System serves as an Enterprise-wide integrator of policy through the data that results from policy executions.
